Savannah Regional film commission

Positioning the Savannah region as a top destination for entertainment production

In 2025 the Savannah region generated $7.6 million in direct spending from entertainment productions, showing strong economic impact across local businesses, crew employment, hospitality and service industries. Throughout the year, 53 professional entertainment productions used the Savannah region as their filming location, exhibiting confidence in Savannah’s infrastructure, workforce and various locations.

Savannah’s reputation for supporting filmmakers remained consistent in 2025. MovieMaker magazine ranked Savannah 5th in its annual list of the “Best 10 Small Cities and Towns to Live and Work as a Moviemaker.” This marks the 10th consecutive year that Savannah has been ranked in the top 10, emphasizing the region’s appeal to the entertainment industry and excellence.

To broaden its reach, the Savannah Regional Film Commission (SRFC) marketed the Savannah region at major film festivals and markets such as the Sundance Film Festival, Berlin International Film Festival and the Atlanta Film Festival. We also hosted an activation at the Cannes Film Festival, elevating the international visibility of Savannah while strengthening relationships with producers and studios.

The leadership and impact of the SRFC were also recognized on an international stage. The commission was named one of five finalists for Film Commission of the Year-City/Region at the Screen International Global Production Awards. This award highlights sustainable and exceptional work within the global film and television production industry and supports Savannah’s continuous growing influence as a competitive production hub.

Collectively, these highlights and achievements affirm a year of economic strength, marketing expansion and continued national and international recognition for the SRFC and the Savannah region.
